Compliance is a “team effort.” Everyone in the organization has an important role to play. It’s critical, however, that each member of the team understand their specific role and how it relates to compliance. Compliance officers also need to be familiar with the types of issues that can arise in each department or area so they can help develop policies, processes, and training to mitigate these risks.

One such area is credentialing. Mistakes in credentialing can compromise patient safety, violate licensing and certification requirements, and result in overpayments. An organization’s credentialing processes are key to minimizing mistakes and ensuring patients receive services from qualified individuals. Credentialing, however, is becoming more and more complicated, especially in light of telehealth and scope of practice changes.

Check out this week’s podcast for more information on the important role of credentialing in compliance and get our free resource to help review and build your credentialing processes.
