Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which means the holiday rush – and the new year – are almost here. While we’re all gearing up for busy schedules, there’s one major compliance deadline you can’t lose sight of: February 16, 2026, the deadline to implement changes to 42 CFR Part 2 regulations governing certain substance use disorder records (referred to as “Part 2”).
It may feel like plenty of time, but we’re now within three months of that date. This week’s episode of the podcast walks through what non-Part 2 providers must do to ensure they’re fully compliant by February, including:
- Understanding where you’ll store Part 2 records and how staff will recognize them as covered by Part 2;
- Changes needed to your HIPAA or release of information policies; and
- Updates to your Notice of Privacy Practices.
